Yes, its sufficient to characterize one good photography of departure on which constructing a compatible land

4 - make water more "3D"
using only the photo and terrain maybe can render images too "flat"... in order to avoid the problem we add "true water" and other lands with dunes in order to create an effect wave
5 - postioning real water with photo water...
...too make a water not too flat with refraction and reflection...
 

That's all folks, my dream would be to construct the single water and terrain only with objects 3d and procedural material... but i'm not professional enough... therefore I manage with some trick... :)
